Neck Stretch II

This exercise loosens the muscles in the front of your neck (the scalene muscles). When you look down for long periods, these muscles can tighten.

Performing the Neck Stretch II (Scalene Stretch)

  1. Place your hands on your collarbone.
  2. Look at the ceiling above your left shoulder.
  3. Hold the stretch for 5-10 seconds.
  4. Slowly return to looking forward.
  5. Look at the ceiling above your right shoulder.
  6. Hold this stretch for 5-10 seconds.
  7. Slowly return to looking forward.
  8. Repeat 3 times.

Alternative ways to perform the neck stretch II:

If you have trouble performing the Scalene Stretch as described:

  1. Gently and slowly, roll your head clockwise 3 times.
  2. Gently and slowly, roll you head counter-clockwise 3 times.
